Utah State University: Emma Eccles Jones Medical Research Building

Emma Eccles Jones Medical Sciences Building is a six story, 124,000 square foot research facility on the University of Utah’s campus. The entire structure is made of poured-in-place concrete in order to meet the strict guidelines of the vibration requirements. This type of construction posed a great challenge for the men on site as planning and coordination was critical. As well as labs it has multimedia lecture halls, classrooms, seminar rooms and conference areas. This facility is under tight security and therefore a state of the art security system was implemented in order to maintain it. The building uses a 2000KW generator for its emergency distribution system. There is no room for downtime at this facility. In addition, there are 24 walk in freezers that are completely automated.
